These days, parents have been concerning by their kids TV addiction. Even some called the TV as “electronic babysitter” or “plug-in drug”. Studies show that people watch amazing amounts of television; in fact, children often spend more time in front of the set than in school. So what can you do if you fear that the tube is invading your life?
These are 10 tips to limit our kids’ TV viewing
- Train the children to ask for permission to turn on the TV.
- Turn the TV off during the meals time.
- Do not allow children watching TV while they need to do their homework or others housework.
- Set a good sample for the children by limiting our TV viewing too.
- Do not allow any set of TV in our children’s room.
- Accompany our children watching their favorite program.
- Discuss with our children what they see on TV.
- Turn off the TV when the selected program is over.
- Check the TV program on the schedule guide.
- Limit daily television watching to one hour or less for preschoolers and two hours or less for early school-aged children.
